Lab-Grade Grain Quality Analysis — Measure Every Grain in Seconds

IndeScan uses a standard flatbed scanner to deliver high-accuracy measurements of length, width, shape, color, and broken percentage — offline, instantly, and without any AI dependency.

How IndeScan Works

1. Place Grains

Spread grains on the flatbed scanner and enter your sample ID and lot details.

2. Scan & Measure

IndeScan captures a high-resolution scan and measures every grain in under 30 seconds.

3. Get Results

View grain-by-grain measurements, quality grades, and export professional lab reports.

Features

Everything You Need for Grain Quality Control

From raw measurements to graded lab reports — IndeScan covers the full quality assessment workflow for rice, wheat, and barley

High-Accuracy Grain Measurement

Measures length, width, and aspect ratio of every grain using a flatbed scanner at up to 1200 DPI — delivering high accuracy without any calibration guesswork.

Size & Shape Classification

Automatically classifies grains into Extra Long / Long / Medium / Short and Slender / Medium / Bold / Round categories per BIS IS 966:2006 and IRRI standards.

Broken Grain Analysis

Detects broken grains and categorises them into Head rice, Large broken, Small broken, and Fragment — with counts and percentages per scan.

Color Quality Analysis

Measures whiteness (Kett index), yellowness, chalkiness %, and chalky type (white belly / white core / white back) for every grain using CIE L*a*b* color science.

Professional Lab Reports

Export detailed PDF lab reports with charts and statistics, raw CSV data per grain, or JSON — ready for quality control records and compliance documentation.

Works Fully Offline

All processing happens locally on your machine — no internet required. Optionally sync scan history to the cloud and view results on your mobile.

How does IndeScan measure grain quality?
IndeScan uses a standard commercial flatbed scanner (600–1200 DPI) to capture a high-resolution image of your grain sample. A deterministic computer vision pipeline then measures every grain individually — detecting length, width, aspect ratio, color, and broken status — with no AI or neural networks involved. Results are repeatable and calibration-driven.
IndeScan delivers high accuracy at 1200 DPI, with measurement repeatability below 2% CV across repeated scans of the same sample. Accuracy is further improved through per-device calibration using a known reference object. The system targets ±0.1 mm precision under calibrated conditions.
No. IndeScan is fully offline-first. All image processing and measurements happen locally on your machine. An optional cloud sync feature lets you push scan history to the cloud and view reports on the IndeScan mobile app — but the core scanning workflow never requires internet access.
IndeScan supports rice (BIS IS 966:2006 / IRRI standards), wheat, and barley out of the box. It currently runs on Windows and works with any standard commercial flatbed scanner. Coming soon: a completely wireless standalone device — no laptop or PC required.
After each scan you can export a PDF lab report with charts, summary statistics, and grain classification tables; a CSV file with raw per-grain measurements; and a JSON file for integration with other systems. The PDF is designed to be used directly for quality control records and compliance documentation.
